WHAT IS IT?
----------------------------------------------------The Follow the Asterisk [ * ] Postcard Competition is a cut n’ paste call to arms! Wave scissors in the air, wreck the tip of a ballpoint pen, get crazy with type ... we are looking to publish your special project and include it as a paper footnote in an upcoming issue!

CAROUSEL is distributed all across North America, and we’re offering one lucky creator the chance to piggy-back their best postcard idea onto our distribution system. Create a unique 4” x 6” postcard design: if you’re declared our first-prize winner, we’ll print and distribute an edition of 1500 postcards, pay you $100 for your troubles, and provide you with 100 personal copies to use to impress your friends & taunt your enemies! This special multiple will be inserted into every copy of CAROUSEL 24 (our Jan 2009 issue), a great way to get your best work out-and-about!
Send in unpublished postcard designs by the deadline for your chance to win! (no original artwork please, a clean colour copy or JPG on CD-R will do for the purpose of judging this contest; if you win, we’ll arrange to access your originals); attach a small bio, and full contact information including a functioning email address (don’t bother including an S.A.S.E.; manuscripts cannot be returned at close of contest: we recycle) ... good luck!
Variable Entry Fee: (you choose)
• $5- one entry
• $12- one entry (price includes a mailed copy of our next issue)
• $20- one or two entries (price includes a one-year subscription)
• $26- up to three entries (price includes a two-year subscription)
Contest Notes:
• Carousel staff and affiliates are not eligible to apply
• the 2 Honourary Mentions will each receive a prize pack of Carousel-related merchandise
• At our discretion, works entered in the contest may be offered publication opportunities in the pages of Carousel... why waste a good submission?
• Winner + Honourary Mentions will be announced Oct 20, 2008 on our website
