: : : : CAROUSEL Appreciation Party
... a Midwinter’s night of poetry hosted on the University of Guelph campus by Carousel Magazine!

Date: Tuesday January 29, 2008
Location: Bullring Pub, University of Guelph (Guelph, ON)
Free!!!

On Tuesday, January 29, Carousel Magazine — a hybrid literary and arts magazine publishing the best new poetry, fiction and artwork from across Canada  — threw a Carousel Appreciation Party at the Bullring Pub on the University of Guelph campus. Starting at 7pm, this free event featured readings from five Carousel-published poets, after which we invited people to take part in an open mic.

The first 25 people in attendance got free copies of the magazine.

We proudly showcased five local poets at this event, including: Sorouja Moll, a University of Guelph student, writer and spoken-word artist whose work has appeared in The Globe and Mail and Toronto Star; Allan Briesmaster, whose most recent book of poetry, Interstellar, was released last year; Mike Freeman, whose new collection of poetry, Bones, was published in December 2007; Michael Kleiza, a Guelph-based poet who has read at the Eden Mills and Hillside Festivals; and Antranik Tchalekian, a Toronto-based artist and poet.
